1. FALSE Some trees have needles instead of leaves. Leaves turn color in Autumn and fall off leaving the branches bare during winter. Needles stay in place even during winter. The trees who lose their leaves are called "deciduous" trees and the ones that keep their needles are called "evergreen" trees.

2. TRUE You can make a mark in the tree and measure from the ground up to the mark. Then come back a few years later and you will find that the mark you made is still the same distance from the ground even though the tree may be several feet taller.
