On this page we are proud to present our Outdoor Nature Child Book Reviews. We have done quite a bit of research into children's books in the past few years. Our emphesis has been on nature, with a focus that goes beyond the usual animal story or the academic science story. What we look for are stories that help young people relate to nature and to themselves in a healthy way, in a way that helps them to find their own place in the natural world as well as the human made world. We judge a book based on several criteria. Here are the main ones: (1). Is it a good story that can hold our attention? (2. Does it explore a mystery of the natural world? (3). Does it present a challenge to us and make us think about our place in nature and in the world in general? (4). Will we grow from this experience, will it make us a better person? (5). Is it presented in a kind, safe, and loving manner? (6). Would we recommend it to our grandchildren? The good news is that these books do, in fact, exist. They can be hard to find, and that is why we have created this web page. From time to time we will select the best we can find and offer them to our readers. If you have a favorite children's nature book that you would like us to review, please fill out the form below. We will do as many as we possibly can.
