AMERICAN CROW
Journal by Moon Bird The American Crow, also called the Common Crow is in the Corvidae Family. Other family members include other crows, ravens, jays, and magpies. It is a large bird, up to 21 inches in length. It is all black, and somewhat glossy. The long tail feathers are rounded at the end. It has a strong and rather long bill. Both sexes look the same. It has a familiar call--"caw, caw, caw," or "cah, cah, cah." It eats a variety of foods including seeds, nuts, and insects. It is often seen in large flocks. It lives in most places in North America. I am always amazed to see a flock of crows "mob" a hawk and chase it out of their territory. I wonder why they do that?
