The Children and Nature Network

The Children and Nature Network is at the forefront of the Children and Nature movement, with Richard Louv serving as the main spokesperson for the group.

The national Children and Nature movement includes prominent players such as the Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, REI, American Camping Association and The Nature Conservancy. These groups have spawned national initiatives like the "Green Hour", "Nature Clubs", a "Nature Rocks" public relations campaign in partnership with a major marketing firm, as well as a large body of research, a yearly grassroots leaders gathering and much more.

However, the national movement also includes thousands of smaller organizations and individuals, such as neighborhood nature clubs, land trusts, zoos and aquariums, scout troops, public and private schools, nature centers and nature education organizations like Wilderness Awareness School.

The Children and Nature Network is making nature education relevant and welcomed in communities everywhere. Louv, and now a host of other authors, speakers and influential people at large, are making clear that connecting kids with nature is not only relevant, but essential to the health and well-being of our children, our communities and the natural world.
